The WIC Walkers Do Julius Caesar!!!
On Wednesday the 11th a group of WIC Walkers spent the evening in higher pursuits ... seeing the production of Julius Caesar at the Warehouse Studio with two of our own talented thespians very much involved ... Dolphine (blue top) playing the part of Cicero and Janet (back left - stripes) involved in the production. Many thanks to Veronique (3rd from right) for furnishing this photo and the following information which, unfortunately, I have abbreviated. She should be a critic!
The play portrays the conspiracy against Julius Caesar, his assassination and its aftermath. The director, Hugh Dow, has chosen to give a slanted twist by casting 15 strong women instead of men in the roles and in another surprise the spectators are transported not into Ancient Rome but in our contemporary world dressed in modern garb (fishnet stockings with pink socks, business suit with red stiletto shoes and in part 2 in green combat gear for battle). Furthermore, Marc Anthony & Octavius have a white Apple computer to prepare the logistics of the battle against Brutus and the conspirators while the latter hold shiny metallic iPhones to check messages from the battle fields. Well, you get the picture ... Apparently it was a splendid evening for all who attended ... with many fine actresses involved and Dolphine played the role of Cicero very convincingly .... Hats off to Dolphine!
