Melly's walk at Genval Lake

Melly writes:

The Good Friday walk attracted 3 walkers for the long walk and one for the short walk which meant that with the leaders we had a nice group of six for coffee (or in one case Chinese Lemon Chicken!) at the Shangri-La du Lac.

It was a fairly gray day with a bit of a nip in the air. The early morning snow had disappeared, albeit with a sprinkling left on the fir trees, and it was comfortable to walk even through the wooded parts which rise up from the lake on the Overijse side.

Although the Lake of Genval is a busy place at weekends, at other times it remains a quiet and peaceful place for a pleasant walk. We all felt it could be repeated later on in the year when the trees are in leaf and the gardens are blooming.

Jane's walk in Huldenberg

This is how it would have looked on a warm summer day.
However today it was cold and windy and there was plenty of snow around.
Jane led us on a good brisk walk over the fields of Huldenberg and we were nice and warm by the time we reached the Tavern Rochus at the end of the walk.  As we had no camera with us to record the evidence, several walkers ordered pancakes and waffles with cream.....

Take a look back at the Blog Archive for 25 March 2012 - we were wearing T-shirts!

Paulette's walk in la Hulpe on 22nd March

The walk in the property of the Château de la Hulpe is really one of our favourite walks. It is so varied and offers so many beautiful sites.

Here  we are next to the first bank of daffodils, a sure sign of spring. Here is hoping!

Anne B's walk in Tervuren Park

Here we are again in Tervuren Park, a good place to walk when there's snow around.  The temperature was just above freezing and we soon warmed up as we walked briskly around the still-frozen lakes.

Jane tried to fly - but the geese weren't impressed!

Nobody wanted to face the camera in Mont Blanc..... but we all enjoyed our hot coffee.

Paulette's walk in Jesus Eik on 11th March

As I was listening to the weather forecast this morning, part of me was wondering what I was doing here in this weather. Well 9 ladies were waiting at Jesus Eik, ready for a good walk in the snow. We had cold hands to begin with but gradually the effort made us warmer and we managed to walk briskly and happily.

Sorry for the photographs. They are all blurry because of the snow.

2 hours later we sat down at Istas, glad we made the effort and enjoyed our cappuccinos even more than usual.

Jane's Sunny Tervuren Walk

Thank you to Jane for our lovely walk today, and to the Weather Gods for the glorious blue sky!  Lots of photos from today, simply because the weather was so lovely!

Here we all are, just after we set off: note the blue sky!

And here we are about half-way round: still blue sky!

And here we are at the broken dolmen transported to the site from nearby Duisberg by Leopold II (aka as the rocks) where we always stop for a photo: look closely, you can still see the blue sky through the trees!

While we were at the rocks a couple of beautiful horses came by.  The riders were very chatty and told us about their work with disabled children - The Helping Horse Scheme.

When we got to Mont Blanc we found Sheila & Ghislaine basking in the sun - sunglasses on; jackets off!  Unfortunately there wasn't enough space for us all to sit with them.

Finally - some general pictures, with a general theme of ... Blue Sky!!  All that extra Vitamin D did us so much good we didn't even mind skirting the vast expanses of mud that had been churned up by logging work.

Joan's Walk in Tervuren

Many thanks to Joan for today's lovely brisk walk ... very warming on a cold day.

We were delighted to meet up with Sheila's group mid-walk, and to be able to have a group photo of both groups together.

Here we are ... WIC on the Rocks!

We finished up at The Spanish House - a new coffee venue - and very impressed we were too!
