Joan's Walk at Jesus Eik

On a perfect day for walking a lovely group of twelve ladies met at the ever popular Jesus Eik.   We meandered our way under the trees then headed down through the arboretum.   While having our drinks we were joined by Paulette

Janet's walk from Dreve de Comtes

Perhaps we shouldn't admit it, but we were all just a little bit glad that today was somewhat cooler, and it was fabulous weather for walking in the forest.

Joan arrived with a quirky arrangement for walking, but she assured us she was very comfortable, and may have had the last laugh over those of us in more traditional footwear!

We headed off to the rose garden, and en-route encountered this hungry-looking young family of Egyptian Geese.  They were very grateful for Margaret's biscuit.

We wondered whether they could be the same young family we had met with when walking the same route in June.  What do you think? Is there a family resemblance in the picture below?

After the rose garden we did the 'new' route that takes us through the forest and almost directly to the Tennis Club.  It's not as hilly as the usual route, but after the hills in the Solvay Park, we didn't really mind that!

There were a lot of disappointed walkers when we were told that there were no ice creams at the club!  We felt we had earned one!

Susan's walk in Bertem

Another hot day, and five go out in the midday (+1) sun, though mercifully there was plenty of shade.

The wartime bunker seen above had been tastefully converted into a des res for bats
in a superb location.

Pause for a rest,
for it was thirsty work

Thanks, Susan, for a lovely walk!

Margaret's walk in Grez-Doiceau

Under the rather sceptical eye of one gruff observer,
seven of us set off on this hot, hot day for an 8km walk in the pretty countryside around Grez-Doiceau.

Others were happy just standing in the shade:

After pausing to gather our strength,

we tackled the steep section of the walk -
only to find when we got to the top, past the church,

that the view was not what it used to be. A blot on the landscape in an otherwise pleasant walk.

Isobel's walk at Jesus-Eik

It was another perfect day for walking in our wonderful forest, and for the third walk in a row we were able to enjoy our refreshments in the open air, underneath the shady trees on the Istas terrace.  Does this mean summer is really here?

Joan's Walk Chateau de La Hulpe Friday 5th July

Eight ladies arrived for the walk today in the grounds of the Chateau de la Hulpe/   The walk leader only had a rather inadequate map of the area and it wasn't too long before it was obvious that we had gone 'off piste'.   Charlotte and Jane then led us successfully for the rest of the afternoon.   It was quite dull but beautifully calm in the forest and a perfect temperature for walking.   For the second time this week, we sat outside to enjoy our drinks.   Thank you girls for making it an enjoyable afternoon.

Anne's walk in Tervuren Park

We had a big group for today's walk in perfect weather, and we all enjoyed the peace and beauty of Tervuren Park in summer.

It's a long time since we sat OUTSIDE Mont Blanc, but today the temperature was perfect and we moved all the furniture so we could sit in one big group.  Those ice-creams look seriously good!
