Melly's walk at Chateau de la Hulpe

Here we are at the beginning of our lovely walk in the grounds of the Chateau de la Hulpe, expertly led by Melly, who takes us on new paths every time we go there.

We found this huge fallen beech tree blocking our path, but that didn't stop us.

We paused to admire a distant view of the Chateau...

... then we turned round and saw the famous sun obelisk in the other direction.

Sheila and her group were already installed in the cafe when we arrived, and we all enjoyed sitting on the beautiful terrace and catching up on all our news.

Joan's Walk at Jesus Eik

Sixteen walkers arrived on a glorious day for walking.   The route meandered through the forest for nearly two hours.   Sheila and her group were already in the cafe when we arrived.

Jane's walk in Huldenberg

It was another very hot afternoon in the countryside around Huldenberg, but that didn't stop the WIC walkers!  We passed by a field where wheat had just been harvested...

... and checked the progress of the sugar beet a bit further along.

We were pleased to see Huldenburg church in the distance, which meant we had almost reached the end of  our walk.

By the time we arrived, Sheila and her group were already installed in the cafe and had even ordered pancakes!

Joan's Walk in Tervuren

Eleven walkers met at the lake on a perfect day for walking.   We crisscrossed the paths through the forest with only a couple of muddy patches to negotiate.   There were a few inclines and descents - good for our fitness.   Paulette was already at Mont Blanc to greet us on our arrival.

Melly's Walk - Chateau de la Hulpe

We met in a light rain for our walk today at the beautiful Chateau de la Hulpe.   It was nice to welcome a new walker Susan to the group.   Little did we know what was in store for us.  There should have been a clue when Melly had a pair of secateurs in her hand.   We set off normally but it wasn't long before we were plunged into a jungle of ferns and brambles.   Melly forged ahead snipping off any offending vegetation.   We even had to skirt round muddy pools and had to squeeze under a fallen tree.   The rain cleared and the sun came out for the rest of the walk.   Thank you Melly for the fun walk.

Jane's walk at Welriekendedreef

Thank you Jane for leading us on a lovely walk through the cool forest on another very hot August afternoon.

We were very proud to be the only WIC activity which continues through the summer.

We all wished Charlotte a Happy Birthday at the Cafe de la Foret.

A hot afternoon in Tervuren Park

Here we are in the shade before we started walking

We tried to avoid walking in the sun...

... and were very glad to have a short rest on the WIC rocks!
