17 October 2011 - Pernette's walk in Wezemaal

As you can see this post is slightly out of sync as I only received the photos the other day from Tina. Many thanks Tina.  This interesting and varied walk is now a firm favourite with the group.  Wasn't there myself  as I was sunbathing in the south of Spain but I am assured that a great time was had by all.
It is clear that autumn is here - magnificent colours and a bit of sun.  Naturally Joan was the first to spot it!!
Sorry no photos of tucking into pancakes and coffee this time - so it is goodbye from them at the top of the hill.

Janet & Sheila's Walks - Jardin Botanique Meise

Although the photo above makes it look rather gloomy, in fact 16 of us enjoyed a beautifully sunny afternoon walk in the National Botanical Garden of Belgium at Meise (for further information see http://www.br.fgov.be/PUBLIC/GENERAL/index.php). After starting off together, the group split into two before meeting up again to enjoy a special visit!

Can you spot Sheila's group in this photo?!

The main reason for choosing to walk at the Jardin Botanique today was to support three of our creative walkers who were participating in an Ikebana display.

We were all very impressed by the artistic flower arranging skills of Yuko, Anne and Ghislaine, and grateful for the tea, coffee and never-ending supply of cake and chocolate that they and their colleagues laid on for us. Many thanks!

For those of you who weren't there, a calendar of beautiful photographs of ikebana arrangements is for sale with proceeds going to the Japanese Red Cross to help those still affected by the tsunami. For further details, please contact Anne.

These are their ikebana works of art - can you tell which is whose? Answers Below!

Here are a few of the other (very many)beautiful pieces

And here are our ladies with their creations!

Anne's walk in Tervuren

Does the sun always shine in Tervuren? We were glad to see it today at the beginning of our walk, and pleased to welcome back Sarah who was visiting Brussels this week.

It was warm enough to sit outside on the terrace of la Vignette for our refreshments. The money is already organised even though some of the drinks haven't yet been served!

Joan's Walk Leefdaal 7th October

On a beautiful autumn day, nine ladies set off from the 12th century church at Leefdaal. We followed the path through a drive lined with trees, passed by Leefdaal Castle and along the River Voer. We made our way up over farmland which had beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. It was a bonus to be able to sit outside the cafe for our welcome drinks.

Bonnie's walk in Jesus-Eik

Thank you Bonnie for leading us on a beautiful walk through the cool shady forest on a very hot afternoon!

The terrace at Istas was almost full when we arrived so we had to split up on two tables for our refreshments. We could have stayed longer as we still had plenty to talk about..... we'll continue next time!
