Paulette's walk in the Foret de Soignes from the Dreve des Comtes on October 29th 2010

There were 14 of us who came along for this walk which was a favourite of Sandy. What a gorgeous day to marvel at the magnificent autumnal colours - reds and golds galore.

This is the bridge over the Etang des Enfants Noyes, a play on the Dutch word Verdronken (who was really the original owner of a mill on the spot). What an enchanting spot!
Not a breath of wind. Beautiful reflections. Thanks to Deborah for these lovely snaps.

Paulette's walk in Villers-la-Ville on Monday 25th October 2010

We met up on the car park opposite the Villers ruins on a cold but gorgeously sunny late autumn day. Everybody was in a good mood and ready for a brisk walk.

Hugging a tree seemed like the thing to do on a day like this... And why not...?
What beautiful countryside...
... with blooming flowers still!
And everyone was enchanted by the autumn colours.
Here we are going downhill through rough terrain.
Hardy adventurers crossing a ford!

Almost there. Not far to go.

Aah! A welcome sight after two hours trekking. Le Chalet de la Foret. Time for tea.

Deborah's walk in Woluwe on 22nd October 2010

Deborah took 12 of us for a very nice walk on the railway path towards Delta. This walk follows the Boulevard du Souverain on a delightful alley bordered by trees and frequented by the joggers and cyclists galore. Marilyn, an ex-walker from the original walking group and beloved ex-president of the WIC, graced us with her company. It was cool and crisp but the sun accompanied us all the way back to Deborah's appartment.

Deborah spoiled us with delightful niceties, coffee and tea. Thank you so much Deborah.

Martha's Walk at Gaasbeek Castle

Eleven ladies and one bicycle met close by Gaasbeek Castle on Monday 18th October. After we started walking the sun came out which enhanced the views.

At the cafe after the walk, some people just had to have a rather large crepe. Everyone agreed that it was a most delightful walk. Thank you Martha

Paulette's walk at the Chateau de la Hulpe on Friday 15th 2010

As you can see this is a photo taken at the very beginning of our walk in the property of the Chateau de la Hulpe. The weather was just right: 14 degrees, no wind, no rain, the perfect weather for a delightful walk amongst the autumn colours.

At a certain point, we decided to do something different and try a path we had never taken before, just like a recce and since 'tous les chemins menent a Rome', it took us back to the yellow obelisk with its beautiful view of the La Hulpe castle.
Then on to the rear of the property, before ending at our usual
meeting place "La Taverne de l'Homme Bleu" for a nice chat around a cuppa.

Sandy Sends Greetings From Sandy Springs, GA

October has been a lovely month for walking with bright, crisp sunny mornings after nights in the 40's F (5C+) ... Here, I have paused for a view of the Chattahoochee River along my route. I've joined the Newcomer's Club of Cobb County and spent a weekend at my nephew's cabin up in the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Tennessee border where I was also able to get in a 2 hour + walk up mount Piscah for a great view. I'm off to Virginia for a week or two to deal with a tenant changeover in my old condo. Bruce sends his regards, too. I'm loving watching all your fall flurry of activities on the blog. Keep up the great efforts, Ladies!!! Sandy
