Jane's walk in Tervuren

13 of us ignored the dark clouds and drizzle to walk through Tervuren village, past the ponds and de Robiano castle and then up through the forest to finish back beside the lakes in Tervuren Park. The autumnal colours of the trees were lovely despite the soggy conditions - there was rather a lot of mud to contend with on one track where logging had taken place!
We met up with Deborah and Cathy in Mont Blanc for a welcome hot drink.

Janet's Walk from Dreve du Comte

Despite the miserable weather, 8 of us gathered for a walk through the (somewhat damp) autumn leaves.  In fact the rain was reasonably good to us ... it didn't stop, but it was very gentle!

And the forest was beautiful.  Lovely autumnal colours (that would no doubt have benefited from some sun) and some lovely fungal arrangements ... which unfortunately my little phone camera failed to do justice to!

But some bad news ladies ... the cafe under the bank has closed down.  So, we need to find somewhere else to have coffee after this walk.  Any ideas? I'll go and have a drive around the area and see if I can find anywhere which isn't too much of a detour, or where we can park and start the walk from a different spot.  But I don't feel terribly optimistic!

Paulette's walk in Ohain on 15th October

13 smiling ladies ready to walk in the lovely countryside of Ohain.

Starting off energetically
We'd heard of a doggy bag, but not of a doggy letterbox.
 Across the fields

We could not avoid all the muddy paths
but there was a reward:  some lovely sights
Back to the car park and ready for a cappuccino at Miam's

Sandy has sent us some photographs from her walking group along with her warmest regards.

Paulette's walk in the Foret de Soignes from Boitsfort on Friday 12th October

Another great walk in the Foret de Soignes from the car park of Rue Nisard.

It is mushroom season right now

Lydia's walk in Bois de la Cambre on Monday 8th October

There were 10 ladies in the group walking in the Bois de la Cambre who joined up with Sheila at the CafĂ© Presse afterwards.  My apologies to all for not having taken any photos of the group seated on the sidewalk enjoying our drinks.
For a recap, we walked 4.77 miles (7.68 km), burned 360 calories and found every hill we could along the way.  Melly was able to enjoy her cappuccino with chantilly guilt-free!  We crossed into the northern portion of the ForĂȘt de Soignes from the Bois and then wove our way back.  The track of our walk looks a bit tipsy to me!  We took a jag along the backside of Avenue Franklin Roosevelt to see the rear of Villa Empain and the sculptures that are in the backyard.  No one had seen these before and the Art Appreciation group will be there on Wednesday to enjoy an exhibit.  It was interesting to see the Villa from a different angle.
The weather was a good temperature for the walk and the rain held off for once. (Comment and photos by Lydia)
