Janet's City Walk

Well, it wasn't the most pleasant of walking days - but not the worst either!  And given that it was murky and damp, being in town wasn't so bad.

We set off from Parc metro station, then did the little cobbled road just before the Petit Sablon. From there we went to Parc Egmont and along Avenue Louise to the Law Courts, where we popped in to look way up into the dome.  

Then it was a walk down into the Marolles area, and a little look at the lovely Art Nouveau social housing.  We then saw the Horta Nursery and a couple of other gems before walking a little further and admiring the Brigittines Theatre.  

We then passed the Eglise de Notre Dame de la Chappelle and wandered up towards Grand Sablon before retreating back down the lovely cobbled Rue de Rollebeek, and making our way to the remnants of the old city wall on the other side of the Blvd De L'Emperour. 

Then it was down to the Mannekin Pis, the Church of Notre Dame de Bon Secours, Le Bassin de le Senne (a pond, not a genuine river), Place St. Gery, roadworks (where we nearly lost 3 ladies deep in conversation) and through the back entrance to the Hotel de Ville.  

In a change to the planned drinks stop we made our way back towards a nice cafe recommended by Gail, Aksum Coffee House, which was unfortunately closed - so we ended up in Cafe Novo which had plenty of room for our group - and excellent crepes!  To be remembered for another occasion!
