Janet's Walk from Dreve du Comte, Monday 2 July

It was a beautiful afternoon for walking in  the forest, and we greatly appreciated the dappled shade of the trees as we kept up a brisk pace up and down the forests paths (which can be very up and down!).

After a little loop to kill a bit of time, as this can be one of our shorter walks, we detoured into Tournay Solvay Parc, with its beautiful, but almost derelict, gothic mansion.  One of the reasons for the detour was to visit the lovely rose garden, which we almost missed as it is truly a hidden treasure, only to be found by knowing which path to turn into.  Luckily our flower expert, Anne, spotted a rose through the bushes and we enjoyed a lovely wander amongst the flowers in this beautiful enclosed space.

It was then back to the forest and heading off towards our post-walk drinks. As it was a lovely day we had decided when we met up to change our destination cafe and go instead to the tennis club on Dreve de Lorraine.  I would at this point like to make it very very clear that it was a group decision that we should take the 'wiggly' path rather than the direct one.  The path was, as always, very nice, but it did mean we were walking for a little longer than our normal 2 hour maximum.  Little, as in 30 minutes ....

The lovely man at the tennis club remembered us and was delighted to welcome us back - and we were very delighted to be there and get our reviving drinks!  We were also a little amused to welcome an unexpected guest to our table.

Two messages for two of our regular, but much missed readers/long-distance members:

Martha:  Tennis Club Man sends you his love!

Sandy:  We raised our Choses to you!

Hi there WIC Walkers ... would have LOVED to have shared un(e) Chose with you at the Intero Tennis Club at the end of the walk. The remembered route looked great and the weather fine (for a change). Keep up the great efforts ... Miss you ALL!!!
