We set off on the walk today with our fingers crossed as yesterday evening there was a terrific storm with high winds and gallons of water pouring from the sky. Needless to say there was quite a bit of mud but not nearly as much as anticipated. It goes without saying that Heika (sorry if the spelling is wrong), Christa's dog, stole the show when I was taking the "family" photo. Who said never work with animals??
It was very humid in the woods and at one point you could almost see the steam coming out of the ground. We saw one large tree that had been blown down in the storm and the workmen were doing their best to clear it up as fast as possible. As we were walking along we could hear great merriment in the background and very soon we realised there were children having great fun with a character dressed in what looked like a St Nicolas costume. Strange in the month of August, don't you think?
We were all feeling very peckish today and everyone had something to eat. The crepes are good in this place. I don't know who the guy in the background is but I didn't have the heart to cut him out of the photo as he posed so very nicely. Thanks for leading the walk Jane and I hope you were in time to catch your connection to England!!
