In spite of the best efforts of the Tour de France to prevent us reaching the starting point of the walk, half a dozen indomitable Wicwalkers made it to the Dreve des Comtes for a wonderfully sunny walk. This walk takes you past the ponds called les enfants noyes (the drowned children), a rather gruesome name, and historically inaccurate in that the name comes from the original miller Verdoncken who worked here. What a difference an 'r' makes! The path wanders through the forest, alternating light and shade, up and down hill, in the fresh atmosphere of the summer leaves.
We had lovely refreshments under the parasols of the Intero club, languidly watching tennis players knock themselves silly in the scorching sun!
