Fri., Feb. 29th - Sandy's Tervuren Walk
On the 29th of February ... we chose to do walk #29 which just happened to be Tervuren!!! Here we are gathered at one of the elephant statues behind the African History Museum at the start of our walk. The skies were grey but we had no rain and the 12 of us made our way around the route in about an hour and 50 minutes.
Fri., Feb. 29th - Sandy's Tervuren Walk
After walking around the lakes for awhile we made our way into the woods toward the end of our walk this afternoon. This is one of our cleaner venues where we don't have to worry about the mud as much as on some others. We enjoyed our time outside this afternoon and so did the doggies!
Fri., Feb. 29th - Sandy's Tervuren Walk
The good news is ... we were all able to get seated at "Chocola" across from the church in town which is a very small, teeny tiny, little place but which serves the most delicious hot chocolate! The bad news is we had to separate at different tables with some of us upstair and some down. We were happy, however, to welcomed Lori our newest walker (2nd from right) this afternoon, and our apologies to Charlotte who did not quite make this photo!!!
Fri., Feb. 29th - Sandy's Tervuren Walk
And, at the 2nd table downstairs ... most of us ordered the Chocolate chaude de Maison ... which is really to die for and quite a bargain for Belgium at E2 ,10 !!! The propriator serves hot steaming milk to which you add as much semi sweet and sweet chocolate chips as you want! Perfect for a winter's afternoon.

Charity Vote Results & Walks Through March!
Hi Walkers,
Thanks again to Janet and Tim for their very nice walk and pot luck lunch that so many of us were able to enjoy and attend on Sunday as we bid farewell to Alison and Martin.
And, many thanks, too, to all 32 of you who took the time to vote on how we should help to sponsor the WIC Charity, Espace Social Tele-Service, this year !!! The tally is in (Option #1 = 21, Option #2 =7 and Option #3 = 9) and some indicated their choice … plus, a vote to go along with the majority …so, you have chosen to send your individual donations (10€”s minimum, please) directly to the WIC charity account without an event! The transfer # was sent to you by email. This will be an honor system we will not come after you to pay up … but, don’t forget to indicate when you transfer your funds that you are a ‘WIC WALKER”. We will eventually get a print out of all the WIC Walkers who have contributed, plus the total funds from our group and then we can give you a report.
In addition, we want to especially thank those ladies who offered to have a event in their homes … Christa H, Christa W, Sarah, and Jacqui … We know we take our chances but we hope your offers may still be available next year when we will probably be prepared to make a bigger effort! In the meantime, we are considering doing more “Bring a Friend Walks” as we move along into spring and may see if you can help out with these. Sheila and Sandy

Mon., Feb. 25th - Sheila's Plancenoit Walk
It was a beautiful February afternoon for our walk ... We hesitate to say that it was the 4th sunny Monday in a row!!! Here you can see the "Butte de Lion" off to the left in the distance.
Mon., Feb. 25th - Sheila's Plancenoit Walk
See if you can pick out all 10 of the walkers in this photo! Attracted by a miriade of beautiful spring flowers sprinkled around the forest floor we carefully made our way among the trees for this shot. It was such a beautiful afternoon many of us even dropped our jackets as it warmed up to 14C in the brilliant sunshine.
Mon., Feb. 25th - Sheila's Plancenoit Walk
We were really pleased to welcome a new walker, Bonnie, to the group this afternoon! And, since we were stopping at Miam we HAD to introduce her to their delicious chocolate fondant! We think she liked it too!!!
"Thanks" from Alison and Martin
Just a short note to say a very big thank you to Janet and Tim for arranging such a wonderful leaving walk for us yesterday - and thank you to everyone who joined us and brought a fantastic array of food. It was a memorable occasion and epitomised all the walks organised by Sandy and Sheila: an interesting route, a good mix of nationalities and lots of friendly conversation - plus we were exercising while having fun. Alison and Martin
PS. Alison's email address will remain the same!

Sun., Feb. 24th - Bring a Friend Walk
Off we started around the corner from Janet and Tim's on a clear and moderate Sunday morning about 11:30am. The sun actually came out a few times and for February we were more than pleased with the weather. To view more photos from the walk that Dolphine has set up on a separate website CLICK HERE. Don't forget to use the back arrow to return to The WIC Walker! "Thanks", Dolphine!!!
Sun., Feb. 24th - Bring a Friend Walk
Janet showed us the way around some of the construction areas nearby. What would Brussels be like without them??? She also furnished us all with maps and listings of places of interest!
Sun., Feb. 24th - Bring a Friend Walk
Janet and Tim took us through some scenic parks in their Commune of Etterbeek and this was just one of them.
Sun., Feb. 24th - Bring a Friend Walk
We really had an amazingly large crowd for the Farewell Walk today for Alison and Martin ... Unfortunately several are still missing from this photo as Bill stayed outside the (no doggie) park with Spartacus and Sandy took the photo
Sun., Feb. 24th - Bring a Friend Walk
We made our way through some of the side streets back eventually to Tim and Janet's new home ... Bruce (green jacket) looks pretty spritely with his new knee and completed the entire WIC Walk today!
Sun., Feb. 24th - Bring a Friend Walk
Back at Janet and Tim's after our walk of almost 2 hours ... we shared some "bubbly" while hearing a few announcements as we gathered around the buffet table prior to the meal.
Sun., Feb. 24th - Bring a Friend Walk
Janet, our hostess, is thrilled to show off her lovely Ambridge hanging towel from Alison and Martin ....
Sun., Feb. 24th - Bring a Friend Walk
Janet (center) thanks Martin and Alison for the gift and shares a few moments with them as we celebrate today the 4 years we have been able to share with them during their time in Brussels. Soon they will make their way to Stockholm and their new place in France. Off to a new and exciting life.
Sun., Feb. 24th - Bring a Friend Walk
Was this group hungry or not??? After our 2 hour walk around town we managed to work up pretty good appetites!
Sun., Feb. 24th - Bring a Friend Walk
Bruce seems to have kept this grouping entertained as they managed to find a corner spot to enjoy some conversation while waiting for the buffet table.
Sun., Feb. 24th - Bring a Friend Walk
The living room claimed this group of happy eaters ... We managed to fill up most of Janet and Tim's first floor!
Sun., Feb. 24th - Bring a Friend Walk
Some of us found places to sit in the hall as we enjoyed our variety of foods and meeting new people.
Sun., Feb. 24th - Bring a Friend Walk
Dessert was good too!!! Soon ... there was not much left and it was time to say our goodbyes and reflect on what a great afternoon it had been. We hope Martin and Alison will have fond memories of their time in Brussels. We will all miss them ...

Fri., Feb. 22nd - Sarah's La Hulpe Walk
Let's see ... who is in the lead today ... other than Spartacus and Truffles? It looks to be Lydia and Linda ... thanks ladies for setting the pace this afternoon!
Fri., Feb. 22nd - Sarah's La Hulpe Walk
'Thanks" to Sarah (right) who took charge of the map this afternoon and led us around the route. The sun never did come out but even with the grey skies we warmed up quickly and enjoyed our time together.
Fri., Feb. 22nd - Sarah's La Hulpe Walk
And, ... finally ... the Chateau!!! We had a new walker with us today (of the 4 legged variety) ... "Truffles", Kyung-sook's doggie, who seemed to really enjoy his trip and all the exercise he got.
