The WIC Walker
Hello Ladies (and accompanying pets)!
Ready for a brisk walk this coming Monday? It offers cobblestones, mud (sometimes there is hardly a way aropund..), stretches of black top with traffic, stunning views, grand residential areas, diversions - you name it, it is there! I plucked a walk out of the Lasne book, with a manageable length and decided to explore it on this glorious Friday afternoon. Good that I did, for now I might spare you the backtracking and long ways around that I engaged in myself. The description, the drawing and the names on signposts do not always agree with each other...It intersects with a walk I remember doing with Sheila, where we got a little lost: I passed the house where we asked for directions that time!
We will meet at the parking of the Abbaye d'Aywiers.
To get there from Brussels, follow the route given for the Christmas-luncheon, until you get to the Place Communal de Ohain. Here you just continue on the main road to Lasne Centre and on from there direction Genappe (the 271). After about 2 kilometers (from Lasne Centre), you find a parking space on your left, along the road, shaded by trees, at an intersection.
You can get there also by way of Plancenoit: Ring Est, exit Mont St Jean, 2nd roundabout left (N5 to Charleroi); after the traffic lights on the crossing to the Lion, you take the first left. In Plancenoit turn left on the Rue de la Bachee/Rue du Mouton; left again on the Rue d'Anogrume direction Lasne Centre; left on the Route de l'Etat dir. Lasne Centre and shortly after that the parking is on your right.
