Janet's Walk from Loonbeek

This morning we tried out a new walk from Loonbeek, somewhere between Huldenberg and Neerijse.  The walk took us past an old watermill and along an pretty stream, around some large ponds (which we couldn't see because of the summer wild flowers), along a beautiful wooded path down to the Ijse and then, after a stretch along a cycle path beside a road, up a bit of a steep hill but with the reward of a beautiful descent through woodland.

We also tried out a new 'cafe', although in this case it was a brewery, which received the group's approval.

Anne's walk in Tervuren park

A nice big group of walkers enjoyed their coffee outside Mont Blanc
after a rather damp Monday morning walk in the park.

Janet's Walk from Neerijse

It rained!

It really rained!  Given that the rain was never really heavy, just constant, I don't understand why my feet were squelching inside my boots and the bottom of the arms of my fleece were soaked despite being in a waterproof coat.

And it was warm!  So we were a rather humid bunch of walkers by the time we arrived at Huldenberg for our coffee/lunch.

So no group pictures today, just some lovely rain pictures!

PS ... it was my birthday but I left the box of chocolates I'd bought to share at home, so I'll bring them another day!

Leon didn't look too impressed when his hood was put over his ears!

Janet's walk from Drève du Comte

The weather was still threatening to be hot and sunny so a walk was planned under the trees of the forest from Dreve du Comte.

Thank you Leon for being so co-operative and smiling for the camera!

Our walk was extended to keep us out of the sun and take coffee at the tennis club for the first time this year.  Despite these precautions we still all got pretty warm on our walk!  Our "friendly man" didn't come out to greet us at the tennis club, and we rather think that the club  might be under new management/ownership.

In another deviation from the route we visited for the first time the memorial to the 32 people who died in the Brussels Bombings.

We also chatted about the UNESCO world heritage site designation.  This is such new news that it's not yet included on the UNESCO website, nor has the forest's website been updated!

Anne's walk at Jesus-Eik

Six ladies enjoyed a lovely cool walk in the shady forest this hot morning, but these were the stars of the show...

Margaret's walk from rue Nisard

R&R at a welcoming new venue. We could just have had a drink, but...
