Susan's walk in Huldenberg

Fortified by an excellent lunch at the Femmes d'Europe spring fair, we were not daunted by the rain and mud, or even the steep hills, on Susan's walk in the countryside around Huldenberg.
There were even some cakes waiting for us at the end of our walk.....
Thank you Susan for arranging this walk again this year.

Hello from Ryoko

Beautiful Japanese cherry blossom, with a big hello to all the walkers from Ryoko (and a woof from Tuca!).

Paulette's walk in Neerijse

Although it was drizzling most of the time, we enjoyed walking in the beautiful surroundings of the Neerijse church. The cherry trees flowers were still very beautiful.
Belgium has so many lovely little corners like this one to offer!

Paulette's walk in Bois de Halle

This year we had to do a big detour to reach the start point of the walk because of roadworks.  It was worth the effort though.  The bois de Halle was gorgeous. It was as if we were navigating on an ocean of bluebells. There were thousands of flowers everywhere and we couldn't stop admiring them, taking photographs and enjoying the beauty of the moment.
So did the Thai monk (the splash of orange that you can see behind our group of walkers) we met on the way. Heidi went to talk to him and he thanked her for this sign of kindness by giving her a lovely handmade cotton bracelet.
Since it was Friday, 't Kriekse was open and we could relax on the terrace drinking a coffee or a beer.

Paulette's extra walk today in Neerijse

Since the weather was very nice today, I took the opportunity to organise an extra walk in Neerijse to see the wonderful cherry trees in blossom. We were not disappointed as you can see. Let's hope we will be lucky and have some sun and no rain on Monday but the weather forecast is not very auspicious.

They are even thinking of the wellbeing of old horses over here! This is a home for retired horses.

Guess who is the lady with the mask :) ?

Janet's walk from the Drève du Comte

This reasonably short walk is deceptively rather good for the legs and heart with its undulations!  Despite this it seems to remain a popular route, especially now we know we can find coffee just a very short walk away!

Just two photos: us and some ducks!  Unfortunately the Madarin Ducks jumped off the log just as I whipped out my phone.

Paulette's walk in Lasne

Lasne and its rolling hills is another favourite destination, a pleasure for the eyes at this time of year when nature begins to wake from its long sleep.
The highlight of our walk was coffee and delicious homemade brownies at Christa's lovely house.

Paulette's walk in Bois de la Cambre

After our usual lovely walk in Bois de la Cambre and Forêt de Soignes, we discovered that the Patinoire (next to the car park) was open for a coffee after 2:30.
It was really nice to sit outside on the terrace surrounded by trees. A place to go back to.

During the walk, you could see white anemones everywhere in the forest... a delight for the eyes!

Paulette's walk in Overijse sunken lanes

Spring has finally arrived! We saw it in the explosion of aubretia and we also felt it in our bones (had to take a layer off during the walk).
Charlotte showed us the places where wild garlic is now growing and most of us stopped to collect some of it to take back home.
The coffee accompanied by a little glass of yellow avocado at 't Huisje was a real reward after our efforts on the hilly Overijse sunken lanes

Charlotte's walk in Groenendael

A lovely walk, that we hadn't done for a while, and a great day for it. Near the end, we went slightly off piste to check the suitability of a new café as a future walk venue. And it would have been lovely - but for the fact that it only opens at weekends!  So we said farewell to the rather self-important rabbits [see label] and returned to our starting point, where what should we find but another new café.  It was lurking behind a very large skip (so well done Charlotte for spotting it!), but fully open, welcoming, with great decor and good coffee. Not to mention the tarte tatin....Hope Charlotte leads this walk again soon!
Thanks to Susan for the photos.
