Paulette's walk in Woluwe
3 ladies joined me for this last walk in 2014, an unusual walk that took us through the very picturesque streets of Woluwe and finished at Equant a cosy café on Place des Mayeurs. The owner was friendly as usual and served us a homemade cake with our hot chocolat. What a treat! No photos today.

Anne's walk in Tervuren
It was raining very hard at 1pm, but still five optimistic ladies set off to walk around all the Tervuren lakes (no short cuts allowed), and after a short time the rain stopped and we had a very pleasant walk. No pictures today, but we did have very good coffee in Mont Blanc, as always.

Gisela's walk in Moorsel and Everberg
It was a cold and damp day, but we soon warmed up as Gisela led us around the quiet roads of Moorsel and Everberg (there was some mud too!). Despite the general strike, the Steenberg sports centre cafe was open for us to enjoy our post-walk coffee and hot chocolate. Thank you Gisela for getting us out of our cosy homes and giving us some healthy Monday afternoon exercise!

Paulette's walk in the city followed by our annual Christmas Lunch
It was very cold yesterday when we began our walk from the Place de l'Europe in the centre of the city but we were well wrapped up as you can see.
Here is our itinerary
We first went to the Mont des Arts, went up the stairs to have a view of downtown with the spire of the Hotel deVille, admired the Palais des Beaux Arts designed by Horta and the art nouveau style of the magnificent Museum of Instruments of Music, Place Royale with the famous statue of Godefroid de Bouillon who lead the first crusade in 1099, the neo-classic Church of St Jacques sur Coudenberg and all the beautiful buildings around it like the Palace of Charles de Lorraine, the Museums Fin de Siècle and Magritte, the Museums of Modern Art and Ancient Art, and on the left the Cour des Comptes. We then took Rue de la Régence to go and see the Place du Petit Sablon, lovely garden surrounded by statuettes representing the medieval guilds.
From there we could admire Notre Dame du Sablon, one of Brussels' most beautiful churches. It is particularly beautiful when the sun streams through its stained glass windows.
We arrived then on the Place du Grand Sablon well known for its antique shops, and its Antique & Book market every Saturday and Sunday. Also for its delicacies and its chocolate shops
Here is the new shop La Durée, famous for its macarons
Afterwards, the walk took us to the Palais de Justice, Brussels' Law Court and the big esplanade where we had a nice view of Brussels. We then took the lift down to the rue Haute and the Quartier des Marolles with typical shops of the working class, a different atmosphere. We followed the Rue des Renards to reach the Place du Jeu de Balle where Brussels' Flea market is conducted everyday. Then we arrived at the Porte de Hal, the only one of Brussels' 14th century fortified gates remaining today transformed in a museum of arms and armour from the Middle Ages to the 18th century.
And finally the brasserie "La Porteuse d'Eau" where we enjoyed a very nice christmassy meal

Idit's walk in Tervuren
It was a splendid sunny autumn afternoon and we all enjoyed Idit's lovely walk over the rustling fallen leaves.
Then the path became wet.....
and wetter still.....until eventually it disappeared under the mud.....
but we made it to Mont Blanc for our coffee, leaving a trail of mud when we left.

Paulette's walk in Rouge Cloître
As you can see, the forest is still beautiful with its lovely range of different colours. The weather was mild in Rouge Cloître and the walkers happy to walk briskly in good conditions.
The buildings are still in renovation. A shame there is no cafetaria to welcome us in the area.
Here are the benches and tables we used last June for our annual picnic
We met some furry friends on the way to the Adeps cafe.

Paulette's walk in Jesus Eik
A big group for an autumnal walk in the forest, a temperature that climbed to 19 degrees, many new walkers, a lovely doggy and a good walking friend from the past, what more could we ask!
And here she is opposite Kyung sook. Welcome, Marie-Jo
