Joan's Walk in Neerijse - 13th August
Six very select ladies turned up for the walk at Neerijse on a hot and humid afternoon. We met at the church which was first built in the 13th century. Susan posed by her father-in-law's road sign. The walk took us along the banks of the River Ijse, the River Dijle and Langerode Lake. There is a much better view of the rivers and lake in the winter when the surrounding vegetation has died down. Part of the route is on a boardwalk which keeps feet mud free in wet weather. Towards the end of the walk we passed by Neerijse Castle and a garden with Snow White and the Seven Dwarves! It is unfortunate that there is no cafe in Neerijse, so we had to drive to Huldenberg for our drinks where we were joined by Sheila and her group.
Joan's Walk in Tervuren - 10th August
On a most glorious summer day nine ladies and a male guest were led round three communes. We set off along the lake and exited the park at Vossem where we turned right and followed the tree lined path which took us to Duisburg. From there we climbed up through a sunken road between fields of wheat and maize. Up on the plateau there is a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. We wound our way down to the River Voer which and walked along the bank until we returned to Tervuren and the park. We met up with Sheila and her group in Mont Blanc.
