De Meander Walk, Rotselaar - 26 September 2011
12 walkers turned up on this glorious day in September for the De Meander walk in Rotselaar. Here we are by the De Plas lake (thanks Janet for taking photo). We walked from the sports centre (currently undergoing extensive work - should be quite impressive when finished at the end of 2012) through the Domein Ter Heide (23.5ha) skirting the lake, through the woods until we reached the Demerdijk then back through the woods and the village to the domain.
We encountered a "bit" of mud on the way but that added to the fun. The fabulous weather attracted many people to take a bike ride and fortunately there were on the other side of the river. We passed by a field full of deer and needless to say we had to stay a while and say "aah!! arern't they cute"
It was a hot day and we were ready for a thirst-quenching drink so we headed for the Torenhoeve, a very attractive tavern which sits in the shadow of the Toren Ter Heide. The tower dates back to the middle of the 14th century and a brewery is now housed in its grounds. The brewery can be visited in the afternoon of the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. We were really reluctant to leave the pleasant garden on such a warm day but needs must.....

Couples walk on Sunday 25th September
Here is Sheila's comment of a very successful day.
Our first Couples’ Walk for a long time! We were blessed with perfect walking weather, sunny but not too hot. Keith and I led our group of eleven along the beautiful leafy paths by the side of the Woluwe. The ladies were familiar with some of the route but everyone found some stretches that were new.. Keith supplied the historical explanations for the various building that we passed. Inge and Brian joined us at the Kwak for lunch.

Ghislaine's walk in Woluwe
Thank you Ghislaine for stepping in to lead our walk today. We began by crossing the bridge over the busy Avenue de Tervuren and were soon in the Woluwe Park.
Ghislaine led us expertly around all the beautiful paths in the park and then back along the old tram route. We speeded up when we saw the Brasserie des Etangs Mellaerts in the distance and we all enjoyed our drinks sitting in the sunshine on their terrace.

Martha's walk in the Bois de la Cambre on 9th September 2011
A record number of ladies turned up to say farewell to Martha who led her last walk through the Bois de la Cambre to the Foret de Soignes. The walk meandered along grassy paths in the shade of the trees past the Chalet Robinson by the lake. How wonderful to see a flock of Canada geese land in formation on the water! We could tell that this was one of Martha’s favourite walks. We continued through the forest towards Club Intero where Martha spoiled us with drinks and a delicious tiramisu. Thank you again Martha. You are going to be sorely missed.
