Anne F.'s walk in Tervueren on 25th January

We started the walk in sunshine and in much

warmer temperatures than we have had

recently.  However, this meant that the ground

was treacherous, with the sun melting parts, but

 ice on the shady sides of the path.  Most walkers

 had abandoned their sticks as the sun was shining,

 but regretted it!  We modified the walk where we

 could and walked cautiously, so no-one fell and we

 all arrived safely at Mont Blanc where we said

good bye to Alex as today was her last walk with

 us.  We all wished her well.

Margaret's Wezembeek Walk

Well wrapped up and duly kitted out with boots and sticks, seven of us braved the freezing weather for an energetic walk on a day when there was sadly no sun to add a sparkle to the snow.

But that didn't stop us having fun. An invitation to come and play had us throwing snowballs and sticks, though not for as long as our playmate would have liked...

Later we found that we weren't the only ones to have donned our cold-weather kit.

Fortunately, we didn't have to stand out in a frozen field,

but were able to warm up in the café with a nice hot drink.

Janet & Joan's Walk in Tervuren

Another snowy day - slightly warmer than Friday - but walking through the freshly fallen snow which had not frozen was a delight.  Indeed at times we felt as if we were part of a modern-day Breugel.

Here we all are: it was lovely to see some familiar faces that haven't walked with us for a while!

We always stop at these stones for a picture ... and I love this action shot!!

Only one picture from the cafe today (to be honest ladies, the other photos were not very flattering and you'll thank me if you should ever see them) ... we were delighted that PAULETTE had persuaded her lovely husband to bring her to the Mont Blanc so she could have a coffee with us - and to pick her up as well!   It was lovely to see Paulette again and we are sorry that she has been suffering so badly with her back.  We hope that it will not be too long before she is able to join us on our walks again - we miss you Paulette!

Janet's Snowy Walk at La Hulpe

This morning's grim grey skies gave way into a beautiful walking weather afternoon.  We followed a somewhat different route to any of our more usual La Hulpe routes ... a route which had not been rekkied, and which was at times slightly steeper, and therefore slippier, than anticipated!  But we survived with just one slip and no broken bones!

Joan's Walk at Jezus Eik - 14th Janaury

It was a chilly afternoon with a light covering of snow, but we soon warmed up once the walk began.   The paths were wide enough for up to four ladies to walk abreast.   We had our coffee in Mont Blanc.

 

 

 

 

 

Joan's Walk in Tervuren - 11th January

We were thankful for a dry afternoon for our walk in Tervuren Park.   With the lack of mud or puddles we set off at a cracking pace.   There was even the obligatory photograph of WIC on the rocks.   One walker was trying to keep her birthday a secret.   Sheila's group met up with us in Mont Blanc.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jane's walk in Huldenberg on 7th January

Jane led a rearranged walk in Huldenberg. It was a bit muddy in places with a few puddles. It was a pleasant and invigorating walk. The only disappointment of the afternoon was that the cafe was closed, but we had our coffee in the nearby sports hall. Thank you Jane.

Thank you Jane for stepping in to lead our walk in the forest on a damp grey day.
We were very pleased to meet up with Sheila's group halfway through the walk, so we stopped for a while to chat to them and then continued on our separate ways.  We all met up again at the Royal Country Club for our coffee and our star new walker Elisabeth enjoyed some delicious pancakes.
